To facilitate in-depth exchanges among scholars across various fields of cell biology in China on the latest research progress and showcase a series of representative high-level achievements in related domains of cell biology in China, the 2023 Academic Symposium on "The Cellular World in Organoids," hosted by the Signal Transduction Branch of the Chinese Society for Cell Biology and the Organoid Research Institute of Nanchang University, and co-hosted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, was successfully held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, from September 21st to 24th, 2023.
Conference Review
CHEN Yeguang, Supervisor of the Chinese Society for Cell Biology, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of Nanchang University, and Professor at both Nanchang University and Tsinghua University, delivered the opening speech. The conference featured six main themes: Decoding Development and Homeostasis, The Real Cellular World, New Frontiers in Precision Medicine, Revolutionizing Drug Discovery, Emerging Standards on the Horizon, and Interdisciplinary Approaches to Meet Challenges. It invited 36 speakers from prestigious universities and research institutions across China to discuss organoid technology from four perspectives: basic research, clinical pharmacy, standard setting, and interdisciplinary integration. Twelve companies exhibited at the conference, and nearly a thousand delegates attended.
The conference also included two roundtable forums: "Outlook for Organoid Life Sciences" and "Outlook for the Organoid Precision Medicine Industry." Delegates focused on the latest innovations in organoid research, industrial layout, and the current state of the industry, jointly discussing the blueprint for the development of the organoid industry.

In recent years, organoids, as one of the hottest frontier technologies in cell biology and clinical medicine, have provided a powerful platform for disease modeling and drug screening, attracting considerable attention in the biomedical field. To date, organoid technology has demonstrated unique advantages in multiple disciplines such as disease research, tumor drug sensitivity, clinical immunology, pharmacodynamics and toxicology, and regenerative medicine. It is poised to become the most promising research tool for clinical studies and enabling new drug development. The successful convening of this conference strengthened the exchange and collaboration among scientific researchers in various fields of life sciences, accelerated the development of organoid technology, and better promoted the development and implementation of industry-academia-research projects in cell biology in China.
